Is close walking distance. They serve a wide variety of fare. It can be a bit pricey for higher-end items.
Run By "Trader Dick" Early Bird specials very good and so reasonable. The regular menu has something for everyone you really can't go wrong. The kitchen as far as standards go is "four star".

A great place for seafood tacos, Mexican and some North American fare. The seafood soup is heavenly and grandma's chocolate cake is out of this world. The hosts and owners speak near perfect English and you will without question enjoy your meal.
Great Cuban style bar offering great food and live jazz on the weekend. Carlos' makes a mean Infusion Martini.

Edgar the owner will greet you with a smile and great staff. You can catch a game or two on TV - the food portions are plentiful and always yummy. Bet you can't finish a "best in town" rib dinner on your own!

Taco stands with style� its BYOB and has a great selection of tacos and other Mexican morsels. There is a dirt floor and the place is decked-out with historical and just plain weird stuff. This place is a "must" experience. Open from 6:30 except Monday.
Always-good� family ran and just has something about it besides the great selections on the menu�. you really can't go wrong with the "catch of day". Great breakfast too.
This is an excellent experience�right here in San Jose some of the finest Thai cooking on the planet - go figure�

Things haven't changed, you get what you pay for, which is well-prepared and cheap food of course. So when hunger strikes out on a stroll just belly up to the cart and say "the works please".
All of the major hotels have restaurants and I am sure that there are others we have not mentioned. If you find something wonderful please let us know. Be sure to ask before ordering if you wish to use a credit card. Some of the smaller places don't use plastic!
Remember that the "'iva" is like our G.S.T. Your tip is over and above this. Please tip well - the wages have not gone up to cover the peso drop. The people survive on your generosity!!
Grocery shopping: there are three supermarkets. One is a very large market that is on the way to the airport. There are wonderful bakeries and lots of fresh produce. The public market is fun an inexpensive. Be sure to ask us about "where to shop" to insure you get the best bang for your buck!!!
