Sport Fishing "Los Cabos"

"Los Cabos" is home to some of the greatest sports fishing in the world. Marlin, of one variety or another is always around. Seasonally, many smaller game fish are in abundance! (Dorado, Wahoo, Tuna, Sierra, Cabrilla and our favorite, Rooster Fish!) These all tend to be in or near shore and can be fished with "mooching" rod & single action reel if you wish to take your own with you!Fishing at Los Cabos

We prefer fishing from "panga's" out of la playita. There are 22-foot open boats with 55 or 60 h.p. outboards. Playita is a 5 min. cab ride from San Jose. The captain & deckhand will work really hard for you. Most of their families have been fishing for a living for over 200 years! The "Panga" Fleet "Capitano's" have the skill and hunters lust to find and hook the fish, even if it is to be released! The sport of the hunt is what excites and rewards them for their vocation!

Be sure to take a hat, shirt, sunglasses & sunscreen to avoid a bad sunburn!

The world famous Gordo Banks, immediately off shore, changes very abruptly in depth from 5000 feet to 50 feet. The currents bring up the feed - thus the game fish! The larger boats from Palmilla & Cabo San Lucas also fish these waters as well as the Pacific.

Catch & release is good policy but if you do bring in a few fish and can't use it all, please give it to the local people, they could make good use of a piece of fresh fish, and none of it would go to waste!! Don't forget to tip ($20.00) your captain & deckhand if you have had a good day!

Fishing at Los CabosTo arrange your trip, take a cab or drive out to Playita about 12:30 (noon) and watch the fleet come in. It is great fun and you can strike up a deal or use one of our choices! The cost will be about $150.00 U.S. for boat & crew as well as $20.00 for bait. Take your own beer/soft drinks and lunch. There are no "toilets" for ladies, but a small bucket works well and the crew is most discreet

Larger boat charters can be arranged. There are many to choose from but these have been recommended. (Local knowledge!) The cost will range from $350.00 to $450.00 U.S. (4 sharing). Check to see if lunch & drinks are supplied or if you have to take your own.
